Mundial Cork is now part of the Lafitte Cork Group

Ramon Gay Brugada opened a small family shop making artisanal cork stoppers.

The first Lafitte Cork manufacturing facility was born in the Southwest of France.

Brugada’s son, Román Gay Codina, opened a small factory that employed 5 people.

Maria Gay Jené and Narcis Buscarons Vidal founded the Buscarons-Gay company, automating the manufacturing, expanding the facility, and employing 14 people.

Lafitte Cork moved its operations to Portugal in order to have more control over the raw material: Portuguese Cork.

Mundial Cork’s facilities and employee count more than doubled to account for the rapid growth of the demand.

After more than a century working in the manufacturing of cork stoppers, the Gay family officially founded Mundial Cork S.A.

Mundial Cork France was established, allowing the brand to be more firmly anchored in the Champagne wine landscape and, above all, to offer an increased service to its customers.

The Lafitte family started investing in the production of micro-agglomerated cork stoppers.
